Two Egg Industry Center team members took the stage to be recognized by the larger Iowa State University community on September 25, 2017.
Center Director, Dr. Hongwei Xin, received the university's International Service Award. This award recognizes a faculty member for outstanding international service in teaching, research and/or administration within the US or abroad. Xin's recognition focused on his long history of involvement on international committees, task forces and boards of other international organizations. In addition Dr. Xin has contributed to the research careers of a long list of students, both at home and abroad.
Lesa Vold, EIC communications specialist, was awarded the Professional and Scientific Outstanding New Professional Award. This recognizes a professional and scientific staff member who has demonstrated unusually outstanding accomplishments within the first five year's of their professional career at ISU. Vold was specifically acknowledged for her response to the 2015 avian influenza outbreak that impacted Iowa and the rest of the nation. During this time, she initiated new webpages, compiled special edition newsletters, coordinated media calls and responses, and helped act as an industry liaison to the ISU Extension and Outreach 4-H program.
