Dr. John Patience, Professor of Animal Science at Iowa State University, is the Interim Chair of the Department of Animal Science. Patience is a professor in the Department of Animal Science and focuses his nutritional research efforts on energy metabolism as it relates to fat and carbohydrate utilization and metabolism. During the course of his 45-year career, he has been employed in academia, the feed industry, extension and research management. He also consults extensively for the pig and feed industries in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Patience is a Fellow of both the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS) and Canadian Society of Animal Science and is a past President of the Midwest Section of the ASAS.
Patience earned his B.Sc.(Agr) and M. Sc. Degrees from the University of Guelph and his Ph.D. from Cornell University. He has received additional training in various aspects of management including intensive short courses at the Richard Ivey School of Business in London, ON and from the Banff Centre for Management in Banff, AB.
