Dr. Susan J. Lamont is a Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor of Animal Science with specific expertise in animal breeding and genetics. In addition to her research role, she also serves as the equity advisor for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Dr. Lamont was named the interim director of the Egg Industry Center in March of 2019 where she helps achieve the mission of the center by providing oversight of the day-to-day operations.
Dr. Lamont joined Iowa State in 1983 as an assistant professor in the Department of Animal Science and from 2001 to 2003, she served as head of the department. Over the years, she has been involved in research projects totaling more than $20 million while training over 40 students, authored/coauthored over 400 publications, and presented in over 21 countries. She is a fellow of the Poultry Science Association and has won multiple research achievement and service awards. Dr. Lamont currently serves as the associate editor of two scientific journals and has conducted scientific reviews of numerous national organizations including the Department of Defense, various branches of the USDA and Midwest Poultry.
