2024 Market Report Changes

It is no secret that the U.S. Egg Industry has seen tremendous change over the last several years. “This is a resilient industry,” said Maro Ibarburu, EIC Business Analyst and Research Associate. With change comes an increased need for egg farmers to find quick, concise information to help shape their business decisions. This is why the Egg Industry Center’s Monthly Market Reports expanded and took on a new look in 2024.

“We know some farms are working toward 100% cage-free housing, and we know other farms are choosing to keep a diversified portfolio of egg housing,” said Ibarburu. “Since some farms are becoming specialized, it seemed time to organize the monthly report data so information regarding housing type could be easily located.”

This reorganization allowed the center to create a permanent new home for its cage-free data. This includes information on pullet growing, feed costs, retail egg price, and adds other information related to organic, free-range and pasture-raised flocks. The result is a total of four monthly market reports:
i.     U.S. Flock Trends and Projection Report
ii.    U.S. Feed Cost by Region
iii.   U.S. Conventional Egg Cost of Production and Prices
iv.   U.S. Specialty Egg Cost of Production and Prices

In addition to a new look, report dissemination will also change early this winter. The Egg Industry Center's current systems are being rendered obsolete so a switch in delivery systems for both the market reports and this newsletter, the Incredible Update, will occur.

The Egg Industry Center is committed to providing the information the industry needs to make its daily decisions. Our goal is to provide information in a way that is as easy as possible for everyone to access and use.
