Brett Pickar is a General Manager at Daybreak Foods, Inc. Brett grew up on a third generation dairy farm in south central Wisconsin. His family also raised purebred Hampshire and Berkshire hogs. Chickens, turkeys and ducks were always around the farm, but it wasn’t until the 90’s when the family quit dairy farming that Brett got a taste of the commercial poultry industry. During that time, the family converted many of the barns to raise meat chickens for specialty markets. Brett decided to add poultry science classes to college degree and started his career in 1997 with the layer industry working for Daybreak Foods, Inc. Starting in live production, Brett moved into management of a modern inline egg production complex in 2007. Brett is a past member of both the Iowa Egg Council and Iowa Poultry Association boards and currently serves on the Fall Festival and education committee. Brett received a BS in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1996. Brett and his wife Anna live in Northwest Iowa with their four children.
