The Egg Industry Center welcomes Emma Lihs as its Communications Intern for 2026.
Lihs started her role on May 18th and will contribute to center and event promotion, social media campaigns, and support other communication efforts at the center.
This fall, Lihs will be a sophomore at Iowa State University pursuing a degree in Agriculture Education with a minor in Animal Science. She is actively involved in a variety of organizations on campus, including Block and Bridle, Sigma Alpha, and Agriculture Education Club.
Lihs attributes her passion for the egg and poultry industry to growing up on a small poultry farm near Bondurant, IA. She was actively involved in her local 4-H and FFA chapter, showing production and ornamental poultry at the Polk County and Iowa State Fair. Lihs also assisted in the management of the family farm for her FFA Supervised Agriculture Experience. The farm, called “Red Dan Acres,” is proud to raise quality laying hens, broilers, and turkeys to sell to a neighboring farm store.
“I am very excited to be a part of a team passionate about research, producers, and egg consumers,” Lihs said. “This opportunity will allow me to further understand the egg industry and build upon my communication skills.”
